What is Notarisation?
Notarisation is an official process where a notary public impartially verifies identities, formally witnesses the signing of legal documents, and more. In this process, a notary records official acts in a formal register, and authenticates documents for legal use, often for use outside of the UK.
Documents Required for a Notarisation Appointment
- A valid passport or any other government issued photographic identity documents.
- Utility bills received in the last three months for Proof of address documents.
Note: If you use your UK driving licence as an ID document you must provide a secondary form of proof of address document.
Data Protection
Like many other organisations, notaries in the UK are required to register with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). This is because they process sensitive information in the course of their professional duties, making them “data controllers” under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK GDPR.

Records
Under the Notaries Practice Rules 2019, we are required to keep the original or a complete photocopy of the document(s), which is stored in a permanent, tamper-proof format for a minimum of twelve years. We will store your document(s) using secure digital storage to save your records permanently, without any risk of them being changed or deleted.
When Is Notarisation Required?
If you are buying, selling, or managing property abroad, you will need a notary to authenticate your deeds, transfer documents, or powers of attorney.
When you are entering agreements with foreign companies, you will often need notarised signatures, board resolutions, or meeting minutes to make your international contracts legally binding.
When setting up branches or subsidiaries overseas, you will often need notarised foundational documents (e.g., Memorandum and Articles of Association).
Registering trademarks or patents in other countries.
We notarise supporting documents for visas, residency applications, or documents required for employment in another country (such as a copy of your passport, or criminal record checks).
We certify academic qualifications, degrees, and transcripts for use in universities or with employers abroad.
Sworn affidavits or statutory declarations that officially prove you are single and free to marry.
